About Us

Safe Travels is run by Dr. Shira Weiss and a group of trained pediatric nurses. We are an authorized yellow fever vaccination center and can provide this as well as your other necessary travel vaccines. We offer travel consultations tailored completely to your destination and itinerary, taking into consideration your medical history.

Dr. Shira Weiss is a board certified pediatrician and a fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics. She was born in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania and grew up in the Philadelphia suburbs. Dr. Weiss graduated from the University of Maryland, College Park with a Bachelors of Science in Microbiology. She attended medical school at Ben Gurion University of the Negev’s Medical School for International Health in Beer-Sheva, Israel. It was during that time that her interest in international health developed. She then spent a few months working in a hospital and rural clinic in Western Kenya to complete her international health training. Dr. Weiss completed her pediatric residency training at Sinai Hospital in Baltimore, Maryland where she was also chosen to serve as chief resident for an additional year. She then spent a few years as Pediatric Hospitalist in Montgomery County, Maryland before joining a thriving private pediatric practice in the area.
