Beyfortus

Beyfortus (Nirsevimab) is a monoclonal antibody against the Respiratory Syncytial Virus (RSV). It provides immunity to RSV like a vaccine, though it works in a different way. Beyfortus reduces hospitalizations and death in babies <8 months with RSV by up to 80%. It is recommended by the FDA, CDC, and all of us at Potomac Pediatrics.

When should my baby get Beyfortus?

• Newborns born from October – March should receive a dose within their first week of life
• Babies less than 8 months born before October should receive a dose ASAP this fall
